Exactly 14 weeks ago, I wrote and sent the first Write Epic Grants email. I had this bold idea that I could share 20+ years of ups and downs in the nonprofit grant writing space through a free daily email to inspire newcomers and connect with other experienced grant writers.
When I launched this project, I committed to writing in my authentic voice and not sugar-coating my experiences. Although I include sponsored content to help cover the costs of the email platform and website, I don’t sell my own ebook or course, and I have no intention of doing so in the future. I am too busy writing grants to do all that.
I was fully prepared for the project to succeed or fail- and I would have been content with either since this was more about the process than the outcome.
I honestly had no idea if I could write about something new every day, and I found it easier than expected.
Since we have made it to email #70, I thought I would acknowledge a few subscribers…

When I sent the email about how I geek out over grant research, Maria responded with “I love grant research, too.” We then shared some ideas, and it was lovely to connect.
Barbara’s email made me a bit emotional when she wrote, “Your Write Epic Grants is the most valuable and personable newsletter I receive and read daily. I learn so much!” This is validating and sums up my mission for this project.
Nicole generously sent over some topic ideas for future emails and expressed “Every single newsletter you’ve written has helped me feel more prepared to do my job well.” YES! This was the whole point of the project and I was thrilled to read this.
And I think Jenny may be my biggest fan. She has opened every single email I have sent since she subscribed and has reached out 7 times! This is the level of engagement I was hoping for, and I appreciate her perspective.
Katy took the time to reply, “Thanks for your daily tips & email messages. It’s the first email I read every day!” I appreciated that vote of confidence because I wasn’t sure if a daily email would be too much.
I promised myself that I would invest three months of effort into this project and then reevaluate. Let’s just say that I can’t wait to write my next 70 emails, and I appreciate you for being on this journey with me.
Until next time,
Write Epic Grants
