#320 We are grant professionals

Say it loud.

We are grant professionals.

I have already written about how micromanaging is the enemy of efficiency.

And also how grant writers deserve autonomy.

But here we go again.

I am minding my business, researching and writing grants for my client, and then BAM! I get an email.

My client’s nonprofit is growing (thanks in part to our stellar grant strategy), and they have hired a Director of Operations. There are several areas of this organization that need help and oversight. Grants are not one of those areas.

But for whatever reason, I received an email that I should send all grants to the new Director for review before submission.

So, I will not be doing that. The new employee has never written a grant and has no training in grants.

I told the Executive Director that I will not be sending over every grant for review. They conceded and we are back to business as usual.

We must demand that we be respected as the trained professionals we are.

Until next time,
