#110 Another way grant writing comes in handy…

My son attends a fantastic Montessori school with a loving, supportive community of staff and parents. I am so happy with my choice of school for him, and we plan to remain here until he graduates.

Aligned with the Montessori method, parent participation, and volunteerism are big deals. Anyone who knows me personally knows that I am introverted and enjoy being behind the scenes, not out in front.

And this is where grant writing comes in handy…

Parents are required to complete 5-10 hours of volunteer work each month. This includes bringing supplies to school events, helping to set up events, chaperoning for field trips, donating snacks, etc.

When we enrolled at the school a few years ago, I asked if I could write grants on behalf of the school for my volunteer hours. The administration eagerly agreed and I have been writing a few grants each year ever since.

There are so many grant opportunities available for schools- even private Montessori schools. I expect my son to attend this school for the next ten years, so the school has a grant writer until then. It is a win-win.

Just one more example of how valuable and useful our grant writing skills are!

Until next time,
