As grant writers, we all hit the occasional slump. I talk about how to overcome a grant writing slump here.
At what point does our slump become complacency?
A prospective client reached out to me a few weeks ago and scheduled a call with me. They are interested in hiring a new, energized grant writer to replace the one they currently have on staff.
They gave a few important reasons for wanting to replace their current grant writer.
Reason One: Grant revenue has remained the same for three consecutive years.
Reason Two: The grant writer has not applied for any new grants, only recurring.
Reason Three: The organization lost a big recurring grant last year.
This tells me that the grant writer has grown complacent. I am confident I will be hired by this organization within the next month for the following reasons:
- I brought two grant opportunities to our call. A quick search in GrantStation revealed that there are dozens of well-suited grants available for this organization.
- I outlined fresh strategies to increase the amount of recurring grants and add 1-2 additional recurring grants each year.
- I explained that I subscribe to four grant research tools and a suite of other support resources to ensure I am thorough and efficient.
The grant writing industry is moving quickly- technology, AI, and easy access to education have caused many changes very quickly.
It is important for us to keep up with the changes and remain energized so that we don’t grow complacent.
Until next time,
