Most grant deadlines occur in October, March, and September. They recommend using the Golden Gate Bridge strategy to develop a grant calendar. Basically, that means understanding that there will be grant deadline peaks on either side of the year, with slumps in the summer and during winter holidays.
Q1 and Q3 are the busiest times for grant writers. Although grant writers may feel the most pressure to meet year-end goals during Q4, that is actually a slow quarter.
New York, California, and Pennsylvania have the highest number of state-specific grant opportunities. If you write for non-profits in these states, you are fortunate.
