As I finished up a grant proposal yesterday, it hit me.
As grant writers, we are busy communicating the measurable goals of the organizations we represent, but what about our own personal goals?
I have a clear vision for the future, but sometimes I forget to set smaller, measurable goals for myself.
So, I thought I would jot down a few and share them with you…

I classified my grant goals into three categories: grant writing success, grant writing education, and Write Epic Grants.
Grant Writing Success
I am always striving to be a better, more successful grant writer. My goals for the next six months are:
- Improve my grant win rate by 5%.
- Contract with one new grant services client.
- Contract with one new grant research client.
- Better organize my clients’ document libraries (answer banks).
Grant Writing Education
The nonprofit industry is growing and changing faster than ever before. Continuing my education in various ways is the best way to ensure my professional success into the future. My goals for the next six months are:
- Register for and pass the GPCI exam.
- Register for six GPA webinars (I am scheduled to attend two next month).
- Virtually attend the GrantSummit Conference in October.
Write Epic Grants
Now that I have made the decision to continue this venture, I am eager to grow it and see what it can become. Thanks for being here with me in the beginning stage. Please consider forwarding this or any of my emails to other grant writers and encouraging others to subscribe. My goals for this community for the next six months are:
- Launch and grow a Facebook group for grant writers to share ideas, grant news, job openings, and ask for help. (I created it. Now it is time to grow it.)
- Add 500 new subscribers.
- Partner with an additional high-quality sponsor.
It feels great to have these goals typed out and shared. It makes them more real and, therefore, more attainable.
If it helps you to type out and share your goals, reply to this email and share them with me.
Until next time,
Write Epic Grants
