I use AI.
And I still write every grant, develop every strategy, and make every grant-related decision. AI helps me work more efficiently so I can stay focused on the parts of our job that require human experience and judgment.
There are three main ways I use AI:

The first way I use AI is through Fathom, which records and summarizes my Zoom calls with clients and prospective clients. This allows me to stay fully present during the conversation without worrying about note-taking. At the end of the call, Fathom summarizes the call and produces a task list for me.
I use Koala AI to rewrite my content to fit word and character limits. Nothing is more infuriating (or time-consuming) than writing a clear and compelling narrative only to learn that it is longer than the allowed character limit. I plug my content into Koala and ask it to condense it into the word or character limit. My core message is intact, and my frustration is relieved.
Finally, I use Instrumentl’s AI tool within their grant research software. It helps me extract a list of keywords and funding focus areas with ease.
AI will never replace thoughtful grant writing or strategy, but it can support us.
By using the right AI tools intentionally, I am able to deliver high-quality, customized grant services while maintaining the level of care and expertise my clients expect.
