Everyone wants the grant funding. Not everyone considers the reporting requirements.
Over the past two weeks, there have been two instances where my clients lament that they did not consider the reporting requirements of grant funding. The money was enticing, and they figured they would worry about the reporting later.
Now they are questioning whether the funding is worth the time and energy it takes to report.
This is not uncommon.

It is acceptable to pass on applying for a grant because the reporting is intense, and you don’t have the staff to handle it.
It is acceptable to decline funding if, after learning about the reporting requirements, the time and effort required do not justify the investment.
As a professional grant service provider, it is my responsibility to forewarn my clients about any reporting requirements that may be excessive or disproportionate to the funding amount.
All I can do is alert them.
Sometimes, the funding can be so enticing that they decide to worry about the reporting later.
That is what happened with my two clients.
Hope to see you tomorrow at the Fund the Future online summit. If you haven’t registered, here is the link.
