My grant writing career began 20+ years ago, quite by accident. I was a Case Manager for Big Brothers Big Sisters, and our grant writer quit right before a big grant deadline.
The Executive Director came into my office with a nervous grin and asked me if I would write a grant. I agreed before I knew it was responsible for 25% of our annual funding and that it was due in two days.
I got to work. I had never written a grant before, but I really enjoyed the process. I won that grant and several others after that one before I decided to quit the 9 to 5 grind and dive into self-employment.
Fast forward to today, and I am a contract grant writer making six figures writing grants for four non-profit organizations.
And that is why I started this newsletter- as a way to help others thrive in the grant writing space. Whether you are happily employed by a non-profit or enjoy the freedom of contract work, we can all benefit from writing better grants.
