I sat down yesterday afternoon to write a grant that has been on my grant calendar all year and is due in August.
I reviewed the grant guidelines and application questions to refresh my memory and formulate a strategy.
The foundation funds recreation projects for disabled individuals and amputees. It is the perfect opportunity for one of my clients.
Just as I began writing, I noticed this…
Since I last visited the website, they published the 2023 grantee list, so I clicked on it to scroll through it.
And, WOW! I am so glad I did.
I decided not to write the grant because 100% of the grants awarded in 2023 were for programs specifically for amputees.
My client serves individuals with disabilities, but they only serve four amputees.
That would have been a huge waste of time.
Take a few moments to review everything before you start writing.
I quickly identified and wrote a different grant with a much better probability of being awarded.
