I joined my first Facebook group in 2011. It was a group for online entrepreneurs. Since then, I have joined hundreds of groups and started dozens of my own.
Some groups never took off, and some are 100K+ highly engaged members.
I participate in a few grant writing groups and really enjoy the community. Nonprofit people are generally helpful and generous with expert advice and information.
While I love those groups, I have some ideas about how to moderate them differently, so I started my own. I named it Grant Writing for Nonprofits.
My goal for the group is to create an inclusive, spam-free environment for nonprofit grant writers to share ideas and become more effective grant writers.
I plan to post grant opportunities, changes in the industry, and resources I find useful. I would also like to open up discussions about some of the topics in this newsletter.
In the words of Oscar Wilde, “The only thing to do with good advice is to pass it on. It is never of any use to oneself.”
Facebook groups are an excellent place to share good advice, and I hope you will join me.
Until next time,
