#416 This isn’t another 2026 trends email

I have been reading all the Grant Writing Trends in 2026 content for the past few days, and this isn’t that.

Today, while creating grant calendars (woohoo, we sold out!) I noticed a concerning pattern.

And it is forcing me to get my poop in a group this year.

On 10+ Grant Guidelines sections for grants with varying funding focuses, I noticed some type of cut off.

One grant said, “We will accept the first 100 applications for consideration.”

Another said, “Once we award our allocated amount, we will suspend the acceptance of applications.”

And I also saw, “The grant cycle extends until X date, but we reserve the right to shorten the cycle, if needed.”

OMG!

I am not a grant writer who waits until the very last minute to press Submit. But, I use the deadlines to structure my grant calendar.

I have decided to use the grant open date as my deadline so that I don’t miss opportunity because of unexpected cut offs.

Until next time,
