A few years ago, I felt like something was missing. I felt disconnected. I made a conscious choice to establish a supportive network.
Here is what I did:
- Connected with dozens of grant writers on LinkedIn. (If you want to connect with me, find me here.)
- Joined a bunch of Grant Writing Groups on Facebook.
- Started this daily newsletter. I have spoken to so many cool grant writers across the country as a result of this email.
- Scheduled at least one networking call per month with nonprofit leaders. These calls have led to friendships, joint ventures, and shared ideas.
- Joined my local GPA. I am not great about attending meetings, but I have emailed back and forth with a few local members.
If you feel isolated from other grant writers, I urge you to intentionally network. It makes a big difference, even for this introvert.
Until next time,
