#200 Crowdsourced grant writing tips

This is the 200th email of Write Epic Grants! I am incredibly proud of this journey because it has allowed me to connect with many incredible grant professionals and nonprofit organizations and for that, I am grateful.

When I launched this daily newsletter, I wasn’t sure I would have something grant-related to say five whole days each week. But, it has been surprisingly simple and so much fun.

A while back, I posted in a Facebook group asking grant professionals to offer their best tips for effective grant writing.

The post has accumulated some great tips, which I will share here.

  • Read the entire application before starting and formulate a holistic plan.
  • Organize your information.
  • Review everything multiple times before submitting.
  • Know the reporting requirements and consider whether the award amount will justify the reporting.
  • Send your nonprofit clients biannual performance reports including how many grants you applied for, how many awarded and make it visually appealing.
  • Communicate with funders throughout the year and not just when reports are due.
  • Research the funder’s mission and focus, and don’t waste time on “stretches.”
  • Communicate clear, realistic, and measurable goals.
  • Provide exactly what they ask for.
  • Know and live and speak the “why” of your nonprofit.
  • Don’t wait until the last minute to submit. Start early.
  • Use storytelling.
  • Adopt the PESTEL analysis.

These are some great tips, and I appreciate the collaboration.

While you are reading this, I am on a plane to NYC for some fun and to celebrate. Enjoy your weekend!

Until next time,
