A few years ago, after speaking with a few grant writing friends, I had a pie-in-the-sky dream about creating a (virtual) environment for grant writers who wanted the flexibility of a “self-employed/work from home” schedule but didn’t have the skills or desire to launch their own business or even freelance.
So many grant writers feel stuck in toxic work environments where they are underpaid and forced to wear too many hats- leading to burnout. I imagined a space where grant writers could be grant writers- not consultants or researchers. A workplace where they weren’t forced to attend weekend fundraising events or work 50 hours a week for low pay.
I am going to create that environment. I am committed to being the change I want to see. Here’s what I am thinking…
In January, I am launching a grant agency. This will not be my first business venture. I have founded, developed, and sold five businesses. But this one is special to me, and I am creating it to develop it over what will hopefully be decades.
I am cultivating a team of consultants, referral partners, grant writers, and clients to create a unique synergy that will elevate this industry by empowering grant writers to reach their potential, continue their education, and make more money while working fewer hours.
On the flip side, I want to develop long-lasting and meaningful relationships with nonprofits committed to impact and deserving of more than the national average 10-15% success rate. I have already begun signing new clients who buy into this model of grant funding.
I am working hard to build the foundation of this vision, and we will be “soft” launching in January 2025.
Here are the callouts:
Nonprofit Organizations– If you have a grant budget that is less than $200K/year and want to grow it, send me an email, and let’s have a conversation about how I can help and whether we are aligned.
Brand New or Struggling Nonprofit Organizations– If you are just getting started and feel you may not be ready for grants yet, let me know. I have a few people in my network who can help you get there faster and more efficiently.
Grant Writers– If you are a freelance grant writer who wants more financial security or you work for a non-profit and want some side work or even more permanent work, email me. Let’s talk about if we would be a good fit.
Let me know if you want to email or talk about your biggest struggles as a grant writer. I want to create an environment that relieves grant writers’ most significant pain points while winning more grants for organizations.
Until next time,
