It seems intuitive, right? If you want to grow a grant budget, write more grants.
Yet organizations regularly contact me asking if I will write one grant for them. I tell them, “No,” 99.9% of the time.
Writing 1-2 grants isn’t a grant strategy, and I want to work for organizations that are committed to adding grant funding to their overall strategy.

This graphic is part of GrantStation’s annual The State of Grantseeking Survey report.
Read the full report here.
It tells us that when an organization applies for 30+ grants each year, 56% of them will win 30+ grant awards, 29% will win 21-30 grant awards, and 12% will win 11-20 awards. Every organization that applies for 30+ grants is guaranteed to win at least 6 grant awards.
The next time you are asked to write 1-2 grants for an organization, show them this graphic and encourage them to commit to a complete and proven grant strategy of at least 2-3 grants/month.
Until next time,
